# Frequently asked questions

**What happens on a first visit?**

The covers the visit and the diagnosis, including pulling and reseating a built-in unit where that is what it takes to reach the fault. If you approve the repair, the comes off the total. You get a written estimate — parts and labor itemised — before any part is ordered. We schedule during posted hours only. Scheduled appointments during posted hours. We do not run an after-hours or emergency line.

**What should I have ready before the technician arrives?**

The brand, the appliance type, and the model and serial number if you can reach them — usually on a plate inside the door, along a drawer runner, or behind the toe grille. The serial number matters as much as the model: the same model built two years apart does not always take the same part, and having it before the visit is what lets a part travel on the van rather than be ordered after it.

**Do you pull built-in units out of the cabinetry?**

Yes, where that is what it takes to reach the fault. Column refrigerators, integrated dishwashers and built-in coffee systems are frequently serviceable only from behind or above, and the diagnostic fee covers the pull and the reseat.

**Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?**

No. We book appointments inside posted hours and we do not run an after-hours line. Scheduled appointments during posted hours. We do not run an after-hours or emergency line.

**How much is the diagnostic, and is it credited?**

Flat diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. Written estimate before any work begins. Parts and labor are itemised on that estimate before any part is ordered, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

**What warranty comes with the repair?**

90 days on labor, 365 days on parts, and we fit genuine OEM parts rather than pattern equivalents. The labor cover runs 90 days from the date of the repair and the parts cover runs 365 days.

**Do you fit original parts or aftermarket equivalents?**

Genuine OEM parts only. Pattern parts are cheaper and they are why a second visit happens; on sealed systems and electronic controls the tolerances are not interchangeable.

**Are you an authorized service center?**

No. We are an independent repair company and we hold no manufacturer authorization. Manufacturer names are used on this site only to identify the appliances we service. The full affiliation statement is printed in the footer of every page.

**Will your work affect a manufacturer warranty?**

It can. If your appliance is still inside a manufacturer warranty period, contact the manufacturer first — they may require their own network to carry out covered work. We will tell you when we think that is the better route rather than take the job.

**Which credentials do your technicians actually hold?**

Sealed-system work on a refrigerator or wine unit means handling refrigerant, which is federally regulated. Our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification. Licensed and insured for in-home service. That is the full list, and we do not claim any manufacturer credential beyond it.

**Where do the reviews on this site come from?**

Reviews on this site are accounts customers gave us after a visit, published with a first name and last initial. The rating shown above a set of them is the average of the reviews published here, not a figure gathered from anywhere else. Every one of them describes a single job on a single appliance, which is why a page about ovens shows different reviews from a page about refrigeration. Not all of them are five stars, and the ones that are not have been left in.

**Why do you ask for my ZIP code before anything else?**

Because it changes what a technician plans for. 6 of the ZIP codes we cover are oceanfront or barrier-island, where corrosion reaches condenser fins, hinge pins and fasteners before any temperature complaint appears. 6 hold pre-war housing, where the cabinet opening and the electrical panel decide what can be fitted or removed. The other 9 are later construction with ordinary access. Knowing which of those you are in is the difference between a first visit that finishes the job and one that books a second.

**How long does a part usually take to arrive?**

Parts for built-in and professional equipment are ordered against the serial number, not the model alone: the same model built two years apart does not always take the same component. Sealed-system parts, inverter boards and steam-generator assemblies are the ones that wait. Door hardware, gaskets, thermistors and fan motors usually do not. We put the expected wait on the written estimate rather than at the second visit, and the diagnostic still comes off the total when the work is approved.

**How much of a visit is spent getting to the appliance?**

Built-in equipment is fitted to the millimetre. A refrigerator column comes forward on rails and carries several hundred pounds with the doors on; an integrated dishwasher cannot move until its cabinet panel does. Reaching the back of either is frequently the longest part of a visit, and it is priced in the written estimate before it starts.

**Do you charge more to come to the beaches or to Nassau County?**

No. The diagnostic is anywhere in the First Coast of northeast Florida. Distance changes the scheduling window, not the price — barrier-island and rural Nassau calls are grouped by day rather than surcharged.

**My appliance died after a storm. Is that covered by anything?**

Around 68 thunderstorm days a year. Repeated line transients are what kill appliance control boards here, far more often than a single direct strike. Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017 and Helene in 2024 each left parts of the region without power for days at a time. The work that follows a long outage rarely arrives during it: a control board or an inverter compressor that survived the loss and the restart often fails weeks later. Whether a failed board is an insurance matter depends on your policy, not on us; what we can do is confirm on the estimate which component failed and how, in writing.
